Effectively "well-fed" here is being used to say "has eaten the widest variety available to them". If you turn down a third of what is available to you then by *that* definition you're not well-fed.
Sure: if your definition of well-fed definitively includes eating meat or fish, people who don't aren't well-fed. It's a circular argument, and it's as true as most circular arguments.
