Marianne has read the first three chapters and, being of the fannish nature, knows that she needs a copy of her own, library versions won't do because they have to *go back*. And for the very first time she's hit on a book that's seriously collectable. Obviously any complete condition would be fine, the shabbier the better really, given what a rare book it is.
